DEVELOPMENT:

The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) agreed to postpone a hearing about a concrete crushing plant in Core City for 60 days. The company, Can-Am International Trade Crossing LLC, is appealing a permit denial by BSEED in December. In denying the permit, BSEED said the site could pose a threat to public health and that heavy industry in the area would conflict with the city’s master plan. Can-Am asked for the additional 60 days to work with the city to find alternative solutions.

Veteran’s Cannabis Group LLC was also denied a permit to operate a facility for retail, processing and consumption in District 6. BSEED determined it would be located in a 1,000-foot drug-free zone around Historic Fort Wayne, and BZA agreed.
