The Detroit Public Lighting Authority to meet again with residents at the February 19 DHNC Meeting!

The Detroit Historic Neighborhoods Coalition invites you to attend  the February 19 meeting to hear PLA plans for updates to lighting throughout the City.  The DHNC has organized a series of meetings with the PLA to make sure all residents have a chance to share their concerns and ask questions about lighting issues in their community.  And the discussions are working!  Neighborhoods that have been in the dark for months are seeing lights turned on.  Now the PLA will talk about funding for additional or special lighting request.  It's important we all understand the role of the PLA, the Detroit Public Lighting Department, DTE and residents play in lighting the city.  Bring your concerns, questions and ideas!

We will meet at 6:00 pm in the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament's office building attached to the back of the church.  The Cathedral is located at 9844 Woodward, with secure parking available through the Trowbridge entrance.

Think Spring!

If you'd like to be involved in a community garden, or plant one in your own back yard, now's the time to start planning!  Many neighborhoods have gardens tended by residents who share in the harvest.  Others donate produce to organizations that help residents add fresh vegetables to their meals.  Others sell their produce at "Grown in Detroit" markets around the City.  Whatever interests you, Keep Growing Detroit's Garden Resource Program is a great resource.  Visithttp://detroitagriculture.netto learn more!
