Snow Emergency & Parking Rules
The City may declare a Snow Emergency (usually when 3+ inches are forecast). This is critical for parking.

The Rule: You cannot park on streets marked as "Snow Emergency Routes" (red and white signs) once an emergency is declared.

Consequence: Police can ticket and tow vehicles left on these routes to ensure plows can get through.

Residential Streets: While not always mandatory, it is highly recommended to move cars into driveways on residential streets during a Level 3 plow to avoid getting plowed in or blocking the contractor.

Alerts: You can sign up for "CodeRed" emergency alerts or check the City of Detroit website/local news to know when an emergency is active.

Report Unplowed Streets: If your street was missed after the 24-hour window in a Level 3 storm, report it via the "Improve Detroit" app or contacting your District Manager.
