Reminder: MDOT public open house Sept. 18 to discuss 2025 US-12 (Michigan Avenue) project in Detroit The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting a public open house to discuss the planned 2025 US-12 Detroit Mobility and Innovation Corridor project in Detroit. Located in the historic Corktown neighborhood, the project involves rebuilding US-12 (Michigan Avenue) between Cass Avenue and I-96. Attendees can receive updates on the current design and next steps since the conclusion of the environmental study in 2022. Located between I-96 and Cass Avenue, the project is designed to make the Corktown neighborhood more accessible to accommodate residential and commercial development. Adjacent to the historic Michigan Central Station, the project will support advanced mobility initiatives while building a shared-use corridor that includes nonmotorized facilities, installation of dedicated transit, and connected and automated vehicle lanes.
