Clement Kern Gardens relocation experiment to start

American Community Developers Inc. will demolish the 87 townhomes at Clement Kern Gardens, possibly beginning this year, and steadily build new structures in their place. The project will eventually total 350 units at a cost of $80 million. All current residents have been told they will be relocated by the city to new homes during construction with rents based on their incomes. They will later have the option to move back into the redeveloped property or another home in Corktown.

Relocation is starting this year and construction should begin soon after. The first of the new units won’t be ready until 2025.
