The Detroit International Bridge Company is requesting the State of Michigan grant it permission to transport hazardous material across the Ambassador Bridge.

The Ambassador Bridge is over 90 years old and cannot be credibly compared to Michigan's other international bridges, which are much more modern; and the Bridge continues to restrict government inspectors and enforcement unit access to the bridge. Additionally, the Bridge does not segregate passenger vehicles from cargo traffic.

It is imperative that the busiest border crossing in North America is protected from any possible closures, interruptions or damages from hazmat spills or accidents. We cannot put the safety of our residents -- seniors, families and children -- at risk.
