WXYZ: Detroit nonprofit creates $100K 'stimulus package' to support Regent Park families
Detroit nonprofit LifeBUILDERS has raised $100,000 to provide rent forgiveness to tenants in its Regent Park neighborhood for the month of May. The organization has also been providing food delivery assistance to these neighbors, along with program participants in surrounding communities. After LifeBUILDERS put the call out in mid-March, individual supporters, donors and private foundations all came through with contributions.

Model D: Vanguard CDC starts distributing masks, gloves to residents of North End
While Vanguard Community Development Corporation is typically in the businesses of community and economic development, the pandemic has created another way to serve the community: PPE distribution. Last week, Vanguard started distributing 1,000 masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer to residents through the Gleaners Community Food Bank’s mobile pantry and at three of its housing developments in an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in the neighborhood.
