April Updates
We know times are difficult and unknown. Preservation Detroit is committed to keeping you informed on preservation matters within Detroit and being an educational resource regarding the city's history. While we work to adapt to new regulations in place at the moment, we are asking for your support and understanding. Several events were canceled for March and at this time we are postponing any additional events until we feel our members and supporters are safe. In the meantime, we are working on alternate methods to bring interactive, educational opportunities.

Great American Outdoors Act (S.3422) - On March 9th, a new bill was introduced to the Senate. This bill is aimed at creating a fund to clear the maintenance backlog and provide permanent funding for the Land and Water Conversation Fund. The maintenance backlog would be applied to the National Park Service, the United States Fish and Wildlife Serivce, the Bureau of Land Management, the Forest Service, and the Bureau of Indian Education. If passed, this bill would provide valuable support to maintain our historic and cultural resources across the nation. Please reach out to your Senator and ask them to support this bill!

CARES Act - For 2020, the act is lifting the 60% AGI limit for cash donations made within the year. This means that previous legislation is temporarily changed and those itemizing deductions will be able to deduct more of their charitable cash donations. This is aimed at supporting charities and non-profits to ensure they can continue to weather the storm. If you would like to support Preservation Detroit you can make a donation here.
