Greetings,

For those that were able to make it thank you for joining us for the spirited December coalition meeting. If you/your group has not already joined but would like to become members of the coalition please sign up here.  If you would like to join any of the work groups, you will need to first become a member of the coalition.

Thank you to the several charter commissioners that joined our December meeting. As the coalition is a 501c3 space current elected charter commissioners are ineligible to join the coalition. Moving forward we ask that charter commissioners only attend coalition meetings upon direct invite.

The first official meeting of the elected charter commission in happening January 10th at Northwest Activities Center (18100 Meyers Rd, Detroit, MI 48235) starting at 6pm.

If you need outreach support please click this link. If you would like to volunteer to help with outreach please sign up here.

If you would like to review our current city charter you can find it here.

At the swearing in meeting the charter commission voted to use Robert's Rules of Order. A complete guide to Robert's Rules can be found here. A quick cheat sheet of Robert's Rules can be found here

C4SCC will offer free training on Robert's Rules and our current city charter in January after the official charter commission has published their calendar, more details to come.

Part of the work the coalition is doing is creation of a community policy platform to help inform the revision process of the charter commission. At this time we are trying to determine the baseline level of work of the coalition membership groups in policy and organizing. Please take a moment to complete this survey

Remember it is critical that we show up and make our voices heard during the elected commission meetings. For those that would like to attend but have issues with accessibility or transportation we are going to attempt to live stream the meeting and will publish the channel that the meeting is supposed to be broadcast on by the city as soon as it has been confirmed.

If you are interested in watching a live stream of the meeting, please make sure to Like/Follow the facebook page Community for a Sensible Charter.

Please feel free to reach out to me with questions or for more information.

Have a safe and happy New Year!
