Have you been to a neighborhood SOUP? Through the amazing efforts of committed ambassadors, Detroit SOUP has been able to help Detroiters fund creative projects in their neighborhoods since 2013. While projects presented at neighborhood SOUPs will benefit the residents of the community, all are welcome to attend and show support.

January Winner: Live Coal Arts Mobile

Congratulations to January Citywide SOUP Winner, Yvette Rock, who brought home $733 for Live Coal Arts Mobile!

The Live Coal Arts Mobile (LCAM) is an 18’ bright red car hauler that has been transforming into a traveling art gallery since spring 2016. The LCAM travels to Detroit neighborhoods to engage residents with the transformative and restorative power of the arts. They offer art-making opportunities for Detroiters—from young children to senior citizens. The Live Coal Collective artist members also put on exhibitions and performances in these neighborhoods. Their special Block pARTies will give residents a chance to engage in the arts right outside of their homes. Unfortunately, in September this year, they experienced a break-in and some of their equipment was stolen. SOUP funds will help them replace their lost items and get the LCAM back up and running!
