Join us at the Scarab Club for a screening of the new documentary MAKE ME FAMOUS, a dishy insider's look at the art world's attitude toward success and failure, fame and fortune, and notoriety and erasure, seen through the lens of Detroit-born painter Edward Brezinski's life and times.
Brezinski was a contemporary of Keith Haring, David Wojnarowicz, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, but never reached their level of success. MAKE ME FAMOUS uncovers why such a well-connected painter never "made it," despite being maniacally focused on his quest for fame. Gallery owners and fellow artists spill insider gossip, name drop, and contradict each other in telling the story, resulting in an irresistible snapshot of an unknown artist that captures the spirit of an iconic era.
