On February 2, 2019, jazz icon, Dee Dee Bridgewater will be performing with The Gathering Orchestra at the Carr Center's Performance Hub, Detroit School of Arts.
She will be in residence (with The Gathering) beginning on January 28 and conducting vocal jazz classes with DSA students. During this time she will be available for interviews.

WHAT: Dee Dee Bridgewater will be in Detroit from January 28 - February 2, 2019. She will be in residence with The Gathering Orchestra throughout the week. She will also conduct vocal jazz classes for Detroit School of Arts’ students and end the week with a performance with The Gathering Orchestra. Throughout she will be available for interviews. Please send requests as soon as possible in order to coordinate schedules.

About Dee Dee Bridgewater:
Dee Dee Bridgewater is a Flint, MI native, three-time Grammy Award winner, Tony Award winner, 2017 NEA Jazz Master, 2018 Doris Duke Artist and more. She’s been active in the entertainment industry for almost 50 years self-producing all of her albums, recording tribute albums to jazz greats Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, starring on Broadway and touring the world. Bridgewater now contributes to dynamic programming at The Carr Center as co-artistic director with Terri Lyne Carrington.
About The Gathering:
The Gathering Orchestra is a Fellowship program inspired by world-renowned jazz pianist Geri Allen. In her honor, participants are named the 'Geri Allen Fellows.' This dynamic orchestra is a select group of 14 young musicians paired up with 4 seasoned professionals rehearsing and working together to produce and perform an array of jazz music. The Gathering is led by bassist, Director of Jazz Studies at Michigan State University and Carr Center Resident Artist (Jazz), Rodney Whitaker.
