Detroit Public Library offers three centers dedicated to supporting people in their quest for academic, technical, and career advancement:

  • Technology, Literacy & Career Center (TLC) at Main Library: 313-481-1363

  • Technology, Literacy & Career Center (TLC) at Parkman Branch: 313-481-1810

  • Technology Center at Douglass Branch: 313-481-1707

These centers offer classes, job and educational program postings, and one-on-one assistance to help anyone get to the next level, from GED to CEO.

The TLC at Parkman recently celebrated with Latasha Spight, a library user who made her leap to the next level. Last September, Ms. Spight wanted to become certified to work in the healthcare field. Parkman TLC introduced her to Oakland University’s Focus Hope campus where Ms. Spight was accepted into a Nursing Assistant and Patient Care Associate program.

After receiving her certificate, Ms. Spight returned to the TLC for help in updating her resume and applying for jobs.
