Maya Dardel - Last chances
Maya Dardel is the story of the final weeks leading up to the ambiguous disappearance of an internationally respected poet and novelist who is living in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Maya announces on NPR that she intends to end her life and that young male writers may compete to become executors of her estate. Dissatisfied with a complicated relationship, an actor in Buenos Aires moves to New York City for a promised role and a new start. When the project stalls he chooses menial work rather than give up on his acting dreams, a decision that puts him on the level of any other struggling undocumented immigrants, despite his whiteness and connections to the privileged. When he loses the trust of a generous friend, his life unravels, ultimately leading him to reconcile his imperfect situation back home with the harsh reality of an uncertain future in the U.S. In Spanish with English subtitles.

Bad Grandmas starts Friday, Nov. 10
Bad Grandmas is a dark comedy about four southern grandmothers (including Pam Grier and Florence Henderson) who accidentally kill a con man. Things really go off the rails though when his partner shows up wanting to know where he is. The film also stars Randall Batinkoff (Kick-Ass), Miriam Parrish, and Susie Wall (Sophie). The Bad Grandmas' golden years are not what they expected, but they are far from boring. (c) Parade Deck Films

Detroit's truly independent cinema, delivering an eclectic, quirky and quality mix of contemporary, indie, cult, genre, and classic movies in the heart of the city. We feature a unique setting - in a former furniture store - and freshly made popcorn, Faygo pop, and occasionally other locally-made treats. We are located in Midtown at 4126 Third Street, Detroit, Michigan, 48201, between Willis and Alexandrine, on the east side of the street. Our hours are as scheduled; theater doors open 30 minutes before the first showtime.
Park in the FREE monitored off-street lot adjacent to the building and enter through the glass doors under the green awning.
