The Garden of this 1929 Tudor overlooks the beautifully landscaped course of the world-class, private Detroit Golf Club (across from Palmer Park and once part of the estate of Sen. Thomas & Lizzie Merrill Palmer).

Grandfather Leopold Wineman founded the People's Outfitting Company, which becameone of the biggest department stores in the US in the 1920s! The Detroit store was designed by Albert Kahn, as was the Detroit Golf Club. Could this mansion also be a Kahn design? We are still researching it! Read more

 
 
Senator & Mrs. Palmer's 1880's Log Cabin -- designed by the legendary architects Mason & Rice -- is a rare Detroit historic landmark, thought to be the only existing Log Cabin in the city and one of the most unique in the country. Restoring lights, electricity, chimneys and the interior (woodwork, plaster, staircase, etc.) are our next goals.

Volunteers needed 1st & 3rd Saturdays, 10am-1pm; Thurs. 4-7pm
Join PFPP Farm Manager Lindsay to pcare for PFPP Community Garden. Volunteers take home food they help to grow. All ages are welcome to participate. The Garden is located next to the Splash Park lot on Merrill Plaisance. Read more and find out about special workshops!
 
T'AI CHI
Tuesdays, 7-8 pm
Corner of 7 Mile Road & Pontchartrain Drive, through Sept 5 T'ai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. To get the most out of this practice, attend as many classes as you can. Peter Guenther teaches all skill levels. No fee. 
 
YOUTH RUNNERS' CLUB

Meet leader Samoy Smith and her family at Splash Park. The youth runners club is for families training to complete in an event(Marathon, Half-Marathon, Relay, 5k or Kids Run). Read more

BIKE RIDES 
Thursdays thru Oct. 26 Gather at 6:30 pm; leave at 7 pm from Splash Park lot 
Enjoy riding (weather permitting) around the park, through the neighborhoods of Palmer Park Apartment District, the Golf Club neighborhood, Ferndale, New Center, Boston Edison, and more. Ride organizer Henry Ford II leads cyclists on a spirited "fitness pace" of 10-15 mph and tries to keep it to about one hour.
 
SPLASH PARK, PLAYGROUND, TENNIS,
BUTTERFLY GARDEN, PICNICS, PLAY BALL 
Enjoy wonderful summer activities at the park. For any problems at the Splash Park, please call the City at 313-628-0900. Check out the new bathrooms and changing rooms in the building with the bright colored circles next to the Splash Pad, and visit the playground and the new PFPP Butterfly Garden.
