Dear Fellow SWD Community Leaders,
Will you help District 6 collect the required number of D-6 Registered Voters (RV) signatures that we legally need to be able to form our D-6 Community Advisory Council (CAC)???? Your help, your leadership, your organizational skills, your connections to be able to network to get other SWD Leaders involved is crucial in helping to unite as many SWD Fellow Leaders as possible to get on the same page & get this done!!!!!
District 6 needs a total of 1,194 registered voters signatures on DISTRICT 6 COMMUNITY ADVISORY COUNCIL (CAC) PETITIONS in order to legally form a District 6 CAC to represent our District 6 within the City of Detroit! We need to collect the required number of D-6 RV signatures within a 180 days period of time, from whatever start & finish dates are on our Petitions. We presently have about 300+ D-6 R.V. signatures on D-6 CAC Petitions now.
Background:
Detroiters voted in the 2012 City Charter to have Community Advisory Councils (CACs), and the City Council passed the necessary ordinance authorizing CACs on April 1, 2014 however, each District must collect the necessary number of signatures determined by the City Elections Dept. that is based on 10% of the number of residents who voted in the last election in that district. District 7 is the only District who has collected their required number of registered voters from their District, the City Elections have approved them and they have established their CAC thus, are able to move onto next steps. Districts 1 & 2 are ready to submit their signed petitions to the City Elections for review.
Districts 3, 4, 5 & 6 are still trying to collect their registered voters signatures within a 180 day time-frame that is allotted to collect signatures.
DISTRICT 6 needs to reach our goal of 1,194 Registered Voters of District 6 within a 180 day time-frame so that we too, can establish a District 6 Community Advisory Council & move on to next steps!
Let's each do our part to help to get this done by getting as many SWD Leaders involved in helping to get D-6 RV Signatures on D-6 CAC Petitions.

I have been working with Lacy Dawson @ Detroit/Michigan Voice to get this done for D-6. I have a lot of blank D-6 CAC Petitions. There are 10 signatures needed on each Petition so for example, if you & your group took 10 Petitions, your goal would be to collect 100 signatures of D-6 RVs!

Rio Vista Senior Apts. needs signatures collected,

Central Towers Apts. needs signatures collected,
LASED Senior Center
St. Gabriel Church, Holy Redeemer Church, St. Hedwig's Church, St. Anne's Church, etc.,...
Our Schools - DPS & Charters & Catholic Schools have PTA Meetings where SWD Parents meet or School Pick-up & Drop-off Times need signatures collected,
Our local block clubs, neighborhood associations, organizations, park groups, etc.,...need signatures collected of their residents, constituents, the residents that they serve, etc.,...
Ok, all, let me know if you will step-up & help to get this accomplished for SWD District 6 so that D-6 has more of a representative voice by being able to legally establish a D-6 CAC!
