SUMMER NEWSLETTER
2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR IN REVIEW
This school year we expanded our reach and were able to educate more students on the importance of practicing the three R's, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
 
 
 
16,320 students received recycling education through assemblies, in-class lessons, and field trips.
 
146 science classrooms received recycling lessons from GLS Educators.
 
35 schools received all-school assemblies to learn about the three R's from BEE Green.
 
38% increase in Kindergarten and 65% increase in Pre-K student knowledge of what materials go in the recycling bin.
 
40% increase in 3rd grade student knowledge about natural resources and recycling.
MOTOR CITY MAKEOVER POSTER CONTEST WINNERS!
Students were asked to design a poster that would encourage residents to keep Detroit clean and recycle! Thank you to all the students who participated!

ART & AMBLE 2016

The annual Art & Amble Silent Art Auction this was year a great success! We surpassed last years fundraiser by $1,500! 

This year we hosted a traditional Thai style family dinner at the Marble Bar in Detroit.

Thank you to all of those who donated their time and monetary support to the event. 
BEE GREEN GALA: SAVE THE DATE!
 
The 2nd Annual Bee Green Gala will occur on Wednesday, August 3rd from 6-8 PM.  
 
Held at the Lincoln Street Art Park in Detroit, all proceeds from this event will benefit environmental education.  
 
This summer, students will participate in four different one week sessions for students to learn A Do It Yourself introduction to producing art. 
 
Throughout the year, we offer a business recycling certification program called Bee Green Business.  This education and certification program aids businesses and their employees in becoming responsible corporate citizens. 
 
The Bee Green Gala is an event to showcase and honor the students and Bee Green Businesses we have worked with this year!
SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES WITH GLS
 
Summer is here! Although that means the school year is ending soon, GLS is not! 
 
We will provide summer field trips and extended field trips on Mondays and Wednesdays. Extended field trips include a tour AND a recycling focused, science lessons for K-12 throughout the summer.
