We show great movies every week at Cinema Detroit, but I am particularly happy with our lineup for the next two weeks. Comedy, drama, history, and David Lynch...if you love movies, we have some real treats coming up for you.

LAST CHANCES - Weds 5/11 and Thurs 5/12

Final shows for both The Family Fang and Mothers and Daughters are Wednesday, May 11 and Thursday, May 12. Both deal with family relationships:Fang is the story of Annie (Nicole Kidman) and her brother Baxter (Jason Bateman), who unite to find their performance-artist parents, Caleb and Camille (Christopher Walken and Maryann Plunkett). But Caleb and Camille are no ordinary parents, and nothing about growing up with them has prepared Annie and Baxter for life in the real world. Mothers and Daughters is a celebration of the unparalleled love between mothers and their children, told through the lens of rock photographer Rigby Gray (Selma Blair). See final showtimes below.

Starting Friday, May 13
The gorgeous, controversial, and newly restored 30th anniversary re-release ofBLUE VELVET slinks into Cinema Detroit for a Metro Detroit exclusive, starting Friday, May 13. This new version delivers the gorgeous color and stunning cinematography of Lynch's masterpiece in a brilliant new DCP restoration. The sound, always an essential element of any Lynch work, has been re-mastered  and resonates truer than ever. This new presentation allows the director's beautiful, twisted vision to shine as it never has before. And Cinema Detroit is the only place in the Metro Detroit area you can see it. See the showtimes below.

Also starting Friday, May 13
Miles Ahead, inspired by events in the life of Miles Davis, is a wildly entertaining, impressionistic, no-holds barred portrait of one of 20th century music's creative geniuses, featuring a career-defining performance by Oscar nominee Don Cheadle in the title role. Working from a script he co-wrote with Steven Baigelman, Cheadle makes his bravura directorial debut. Check out the showtimes below.

Also starting Friday, May 13
"Firefly" alum Jewel Staite stars in the comedy How to Plan an *rgy in a Small Town as a sex columnist who is asked to organize an "adult party" when she returns home to the small town in which she grew up. Official Selection at the Slamdance International Film Festival. See showtimes below.

Starting Friday, May 20
They may not always have it together...but they always get the job done...Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe star in action-comedy The Nice Guys.  In 1970s Los Angeles, a down-on-his-luck private eye (Gosling) and hired enforcer (Crowe) work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. During their investigation, they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.See showtimes below.

Also starting Friday, May 20
Critically acclaimed documentary The Dying of the Light explores the history and craft of motion picture presentation through the lives and stories of the last generation of career projectionists. By turns humorous and melancholic, their candid reflections on life in the booth reveal a world that has largely gone unnoticed and is now at an end. The result is a loving tribute to the art and romance of the movies-and to the unseen people who brought the light to our screens. Showtimes TBD, watch for this email or our site.

Tickets to our shows are available online at our ticketing page or at the box office during regular business hours (doors open one half-hour before the first showtime of the day). The most current information is always at our site,www.CinemaDetroit.com

Movies listed as "Coming Soon" are films Cinema Detroit would like to show and is actively trying to book. However, we don't always know when (or, in some cases, if) we will be able to actually get them from the distributors. We set showtimes on a week-by-week basis and will announce new features as soon as we can confirm them. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Cinema Detroit is
Detroit's truly independent cinema, delivering an eclectic, quirky and quality mix of contemporary, indie, cult, genre, and classic movies in the heart of the city. We feature a unique setting - in a former furniture store - and freshly made popcorn, Faygo soda, and occasionally other locally-made treats. We are located in Midtown at 4126 Third Street, Detroit, Michigan, 48201, between Willis and Alexandrine, on the east side of the street.

Our hours are as scheduled; theater doors open 30 minutes before the first showtime.

Park in the FREE monitored off-street lot adjacent to the building and enter through the glass doors under the green awning.

Visit our web site http://cinemadetroit.com for the most extensive and current information on features and showtimes or call 313.482.9028 for showtimes.
