2016 Ford Freedom Award Gala

Ford Motor Company and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History are pleased to announce the 18th Annual Ford Freedom Awards, honoring Men of Courage.

Over 1,500 VIPs, celebrities and individuals will come together at the Awards Ceremony to pay tribute and honor African American men! It will be the largest major awards show to exclusively celebrate the successes and contributions of African American men in the country.

The Gala (Reception & Awards Ceremony) consists of a strolling dinner reception and awards ceremony recognizing and celebrating the Ford Freedom Award Recipients, it also includes video tributes and musical performances by nationally-recognizing recording artists.  

The event will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall, 3711 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48201.

Charles H. Wright Museum, in partnership with Ford Motor Company, launched the Ford Freedom Award program in 1999 to create a forum to celebrate and recognize individuals whose achievements brought forth lasting and positive change for African Americans – and the world.

The Ford Freedom Award is an annual fundraiser for the Charles H. Wright Museum, the world’s largest institution dedicated to the African-American experience.  The Museum houses over 30,000 artifacts and archival materials and is home to the Blanche CagginUnderground Railroad Collection; the Sheffield Collection, a repository of documents of the labor movement in Detroit; the interactive, multi-leveled exhibit, And Still We Rise: Our Journey Through African American History, and the Terrazzo tile creation, Ring of Genealogy, by Hubert Massey.
