QLINE WILL RETURN TO SERVICE IN 2021
QLINE is on track to begin carrying passengers late this summer after more than a year of suspended service due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Follow our progress to learn more about what we’re doing to improve service and when the QLINE will begin carrying passengers.
Streetcars are back on Woodward Ave. Exercising the streetcars keeps QLINE in good working operation, ensures the tracks are free of obstruction, and provides opportunities for staff training.

Training is underway. We’re implementing new operating procedures and technology to make QLINE reliable. Operators are now able to adjust to real-time roadway conditions to ensure streetcars arrive on-time.
Before passenger service resumes, we will run simulated operations to ensure QLINE is reliable and consistent. Our goal of service in 15 minutes or less will be tested, tracked, and reported to make sure we’re ready for relaunch.
QLINE is scheduled to resume service in late summer. As the Woodward Corridor emerges from the pandemic, QLINE is an important part of restarting activity and returning vitality to Detroit’s core.
